I've done my fair share of complaining about my living situation. Not that there's anything wrong with the people I live with, it's just that in the past two years I've been extremely lucky and spoiled to be living with my two best friends, and now I'm not. Everyone is fairly busy, and there's always the issue of the language barrier (the easier it is to talk, the more willing people are to do it). But, last night, we put a little collective dinner together, and it was really nice to sit for a while a chat and eat good food and drink glögg. There was also a pretty amusing debate about whether the Swedish or the Norwegian word for ground meat was less disgusting (Conclusion: They're both pretty gross). At the end of the evening, I left Daniella and Frederik sitting at the table, looking at Daniella's digital camera, which she hadn't really figured out how to use yet. A little while later, sitting in my room, I thought I heard Frederik's voice coming from next door, which is weird, because Daniella lives there, and, generally, we don't go into eachother's rooms. This confuses me a little, but I don't think too much of it. Until this morning, a ha!, I walk into the kitchen, and they have printed out a copy of the group photo Daniella took last night and set it up on the middle of the kitchen table. Now, is that seriously cute, or what? I'll answer for you: It is. And it definitely made me feel better about coming back after the holidays, hopefully to a warmer and friendlier hallway.

I've recently learned that I'm a very temperamental blogger. If my mood is even a little bit off (and by "off," I may even mean "on," given that I'm sometimes much too happy to write mundane things about my daily life which will be then read without my knowledge by who knows who), I can't bring myself to update, even if plenty of interesting things have been going on. Which they have. Unfortunately, my post-finals slump has begun, and all I can manage to do is knit and drink coffee and read novels and eat chocolate, so there you have it. I leave for home on Monday, and I'm pretty distracted by that prospect, as well. However, I realize I'm very much at risk of falling very much behind, so I will add some photos and maybe caption them. (Aren't
you lucky?)

Quite obviously, a big, happy Thanksgiving table. Not everyone fits in the picture, but we had a good time. Also, turns out one of Lisa's friends used to live in my hallway and was, in fact, the bloke responsible for the Che Guevara picture, although not for the weird stringy things on either side of it.

Here's Lisa with our friend Francois, who we always thought was kind of a quiet guy at our weekly gatherings to watch trashy television, that is, until he decided to be the keeper of the wine and went around filling everyone's glasses and talking about his French blood and calling himself Jean.

Here I am. Tired.

Here we are at the annual Julemarked (Christmas Market) at the Oslo Folk Museum. There were lots of booths with food and handicrafts, as well as demonstrations of everything from lefse-making to beer brewing. Also, there were little kids dancing in national costumes. Gotta love that. All we needed was some snow...

There's a stave church at the folk museum. They moved it from somewhere else. Still pretty cool.
Here's Lisa again, this time with Wes, who's looking at me like I'm a little weird. She's eating a candied apple.
