On Valentine's Day, some random person walks in and hands you a seriously heavy plate of food on which you find 1) a roll 2) two pieces of roast chicken 3) spaghetti 4) mashed potatoes and gravy 5) potato salad.

I don't know why it happened, but I'm not going to complain.

I have been without my normal voice for almost a week now. It is not at all fun, I'll have you know. It certainly wasn't fun last week when I was trying in vain to make my voice heard above my kids, even if only to say, "I cannot shout over you. I will not talk louder than this."

Since going through what is apparently some sort of vaguely masculine delayed puberty, I've gotten several favorable comparisons, namely to Scarlett Johansson and Lana Turner. Personally, I think I sound like a toad and, for the most part, I feel like one too.

Hopefully, I will have my voice restored to me by Wednesday, when my kids come back to school. Until then, I will be using this evening and a good share of Lincoln's birthday sleeping, drinking hot tea, and occasionally attempting to sing (just because it's so darn funny).
