So, I have a co-teacher now. 15 kids and a co-teacher. I'm assured the change has nothing to do with a lack of confidence in my abilities, but only with the fact that they had grants to hire 5 teachers. Well, they hired one 2nd, one 3rd, two 1st ... and had one left over. So, they saw what a challenge I have with my kids (academically speaking -- I have 5 kids at or below kindergarten level), and decided, hey! Let's throw number 5 in with Jenna! So, they did. And I kind of love her, which is great. She's from the south, and she had my kids saying "yes, ma'am" within about 3 hours. She also gave them a little lecture about respect on the first day, and among her comments was this one: "Your teacher has a soft voice, and I can tell she has a big heart. I know that because she must have in order to put up with some of the things you all have been up to today." I love my kids. But sometimes I forget that it's ok to tell them that. Anyway, that's a description of myself I'd like to hold true all the time: Soft voice, big heart. Not bad at all.
