The Great Plains meet the Great Fancies

Although I spend a good amount of time being way too serious (thanks, AQF) about the distance I'll be travelling and the amount of time I will spend at this distance, recently a few things have happened that made me really excited about going to Norway.

1. I'm trying to be a good scholar by reading the giant book my adorable Swedish advisor recommends (How do I know he's adorable? I don't know, I think maybe Swedish just looks cute. Whenever I picture him he has gray hair and a small face with ears that stick out a little. Also, he's short enough that I can pat him on the head.)

2. A really huge meteor crashed into Northern Norway.

3. I heard a piece on NPR about a storage vault on Svalbard (um, that's in Norway) where they're going to freeze 3 million varieties of seeds in case of some kind of disaster that requires us to start all over on that whole agriculture thing.

4. I called the consulate in Minnesota, and the man who answered had such a cute accent that I found it physically difficult to talk to him. (Perhaps this should be a matter of concern to me, come to think of it ...)

5. I just found out Antony and the Johnsons are playing Oslo about a month after I arrive.

Actually, I think it just crashed into a mountainside somewhere. No one found it or anything, some farmer just saw it in the sky, and people in several different little towns felt the impact. I guess it was on par with a good-sized earthquake.

    Hello Sis-
Glad to hear that you are getting excited. I must admit that I too am getting excited about my little move. However, a list of events from that region might convince me otherwise. Miss you!
