A week of unprecedented publishing activity

Yes, three days in a row. It's official: I am bored and unemployed and ready to get out of here. The only problem being that I am not packed, have no money, and am experiencing a serious wool sock deficiency problem. Never fear, I am on the case! By which I mean, that I'm currently knitting a pair of vintage golf socks that go up to my knees. Practical, no?
I actually signed on here meaning to pass on the bit of news that I said farewell to my eldest brother this week. He is off to the other side of the world, and I will miss him terribly, especially because he's one of the three faithful readers I have who dares identify himself. Thanks, bro! Anyway, it will be at least a year before I get to see him or his wife, two of my favorite people in the world, which is a sad fact for everyone in my family, particularly my mom, who is nicely fulfilling her momly duty of making me feel--without exerting any effort at all, mind you!--extremely guilty for going so far away for so long. Such are the difficulties of having a mom, particularly one you love and for whom, it seems, the feeling is mutual. According to my calculations, I'll be living 4,357.18 miles from my parents and 7,283.47 miles from my brother next year. (Cheers to Google Earth.) I actually tried to figure out the area of the triangle my family will be forming across the globe by living at these three distant points, but sadly I've forgotten all my 10th grade geometry. Never mind: Here's to you, my brother, and here's to you, too, Mom. I look forward to enduring these "nasty things, adventures" together and am hoping they make us all very late for supper.

simon, I'm not sure if I've ever seen your self-esteem "dangerously high" ...
