If my life in Oslo were a play, the weather would be a major player. I am dragged up and down willynilly by the weather; but not so fast! It's not always the good weather that makes me happy and the bad weather sad, oh no, I would never be so prosaic!

Yesterday was a gorgeous fall day, the kind where the air is cool and crisp and the sunlight warm enough to prod you into discarding your sweater. I meant to go for a little walk and take this in, but I found myself going up and up on a lovely little footpath, and I couldn't turn around before I found the top! The top was a narrow ridge between two valleys, one full of the city of Oslo, the other full of trees. All the Norwegians knew this spot would be beautiful yesterday, so they went up there and sat in little groups and talked, and I sat alone and listened. I especially liked hearing one fellow tell another to Go stand over there! You'll feel like a king!

I felt like a king myself, nevermind being a woman. I sat up there for an hour, and even then, it was hard to leave. Of course, I didn't bring a camera, because, of course, I never know where I'll end up when I go for a walk in Norway!

My evening ended with an impromptu party of fellow Americans to whom I served the grilled cheese sandwiches and Campbell's tomato soup that noone ate at the party I had the night before (for my Norwegian class; there were four of us; we ate the whole cake). And then, this morning, I woke up to this! It's dark as dark can be at 6:30 now, and when I drew back the curtains after my shower, I found this cold moisture on my window that could be frost tomorrow! Or maybe not for weeks ... But, for some reason, I was happy to find it there.
