Foreldrene mine på besøk!

Tuesday, May 15, 2007

My parents came and visited me at the end of April, which was darn sweet of them. I tried to show them a good time, and I really hope I succeeded!

My dad is probably the most faithful reader of this blog, so I'm sure reading about himself on it will be a funny kind of meta experience for him. Teehee! He's also quite fond of taking photos, and, since one of my siblings is currently restricted internet-wise by his residency in a developing nation, he made up a little "Norway in a nutshell" photo-story that would be suitable for him. And, I think, suitable for my readers, as well, especially since I'm always forgetting to take pictures of more touristy things. Or to take pictures at all ...

My dad's traditional shot from the plane. Oslofjord, here we come!

The Oslo harbor. Look, it's city hall!

My mom and dad with a Viking boat.

My miniature birthday party (featuring Lisa and Howard!)

A glimpse of the countryside from the window of the train.

My mom in front of our Bergen guest house. (All the hotels were full, but I think this was better.)

The Bergen harbor looking ... pretty much like it normally does. (Rainy.)

A ferry that we took through the fjords.

The little town our ferry ended up in. There was a waterfall. (That's a tiny me and a tiny my mom walking there under that cloud of mist.)

So fun! I like the photo essay. You all looked appropriate European (no white tennis shoes or American flag tshirts. Or God t-shirts. Those could possibly be worse) and not at all touristy. You'll have to bring me back a picture of the fjords if you can, because I've always wanted to see them ...
